TIK TOK TRICKSHOTS

THE STORY

In the midst of the 2020 Covid-19 lockdown, my dad and I thought up our brilliant plan to entertain ourselves in the face of unceasing boredom. What was the plan? Play with ping-pong balls. Silly as it may sound, we found ourselves having the time of our lives arranging various household items and childhood trinkets with the simple goal of landing a ping-pong ball in a red Solo cup. After a few go's at our newfound hobby, I began to post some of our mechanical masterpieces to Tik Tok. I didn't expect much, but after posting about 10 videos, we started drawing some attention. It wasn't long before our trickshots drew views by the millions. To date, my Tik Tok account has gained four million followers and our videos have been viewed about 600 million times. Our videos have made appearances on the social media accounts of ESPN and Sports Illustrated, as well as catching some screen time on The Ellen Show. What started as a desperate attempt at entertainment ended not only as a great story, but also as an incredible way to bond with my Dad.

So why is this on my website? Well, if you need someone to bounce ping-pong balls off of kitchen plates or balance dominoes on cup pyramids, then I'm your guy. On a more serious note, however, my father and I coupled our engineering feats with short "produced" videos to share with our family and friends on smaller social media accounts. Most of these videos come with a theme, whether it be the hardships of Covid or a spoof on one of our favorite movies. They certainly aren't the most polished edits in the world, but I hope they put a smile on your face. If you like the videos or just have questions about the ins-and-outs of the trick-shots, don't hesitate to ask. Thanks for watching!
